This is not a blockbuster luxe Japanese restaurant.
Chef‑owner Neha Mishra (this started as a supper club run from her home) has poured her ramen obsession into this place. The menu is an ambitious mix: ramen bowls, yakitori, Izakaya, sushi. All are good, none are outstanding. Apart from the ramen, I didn't taste them, so I can't judge.
Does that mean I was disappointed by Kinoya. Oh no! Definitely not, just don't come here expecting high-end Japanese world-class execution and the price point to match. Kinoya does all round Japanese cuisine really well and charges below expectation for it..
Beautifully sliced hamachi, proper quality. Soft, fatty and umami pumped wagyu skewers. Delicious.
If you temper expectations, Kinoya delivers good japanese food and very reasonable prices. If you think about it: it actually makes sense, that they were awarded a Bib Gourmand. Well done Michelin ;)
