Tim by Harries is the offspring of two strong personalities: chef Tim Groeneweg and wine‑world stalwart Harrie Baas. What began as the beloved Harries Wine & Deli has now grown into a kitchen‑centric, intimate restaurant on Hoogstraat in Rotterdam, where you can sit at a chef’s counter or at tables.

Service is warm, informed and informal. The energy is “people who care about food and wine" and conversation is easy even as attention is high. No need for pretense, yet you know you’re somewhere special. The food you ask? Let me explain...

Deep‑fried crispy veal brains, salsa verde & frisée. Creamy goodness in crispy crust where the salsa verde cuts through the richness. Or fish‑head terrine with black garlic ketchup? This is the kind of nose‑to‑tail move Tim leans into. The meat from heads is coaxed into delicate spicy and fragrant form. The black garlic ketchup is sweet, smoky, mellow. A clever dish.

And then Cod with butter beans & mussels. More classical but no let‑down. Clean cod, creamy beans, mussels offering saline contrast. Coastal Dutch cooking, but executed with confidence.

Tim by Harries nails that rare balance: boldness without showboating, adventurous without alienating. I love it..
