You don’t open a place like Harvey unless you really know what you’re doing. Luckily, owners Eline and Sébastian van Zuiden, together with brothers Sam and Morris Grimbergen, have cut their teeth at just about every serious kitchen or floor worth naming. What they’ve created here in Oud-Rijswijk is something rare: a restobar that feels both polished and personal. Stylish but never stiff.

The vibe? Think soft lighting, green velvet, and walnut wood with just enough edge to keep it from becoming another “nice” place. It’s anchored by a central bar and feel a bit like a second living room.

Food-wise, the kitchen leans classic with a playful wink. Quality sourdough, with home-whipped and flavoured butters, Pata-negra, A flat iron steak with truffle and red wine jus, Scallop crudo with bergamot & jalapeño. Classic, comforting and with great respect for ingredients and producers. And then there’s the wine list. The very extensive wine list ;) There’s intent behind every bottle. Ask Morris. Prices are fair. Starters at €17ish, mains hover around 5-30, wines range from approachable to indulgent. You don’t need to go wild, but, be warned.. the temptation is very real.

Bottom line? Harvey feels like a place built by people who love hospitality, each other and you, the guest. It’s not chasing trends; it’s building something timeless in a town that quietly needed it.
